Snuggle time

I'm not sure what it is about my 7-year-old lately, but he's been obsessed with snuggling.  All weekend, I've heard, "Mom, can we snuggle?  I just love you so much!"  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love that he wants to love on his mom, but his requests come at inopportune times sometimes, and if I tell him we'll snuggle later, he gets ridiculously upset.  Seriously.

And, I won't lie.  It concerns me a little bit because he's so obsessed with needing to be in my space all the time.  All weekend, he asked to sleep on the couch, so he could be closer to my room.  I've heard of kids becoming clingy again when they start school, but now?  At the age of 7?  I'm just not sure where this is coming from, and his only answer is, "It's just because I love you so much."  I love my boy, I love both boys...to the moon and back again times infinity, but I still worry.

B heads to his dad's house tomorrow, and I know I'll miss the sweet cuddle moments we've had this week.  It'll be hard when he comes back next Monday, because he'll be different and need to be deprogrammed once again.  N really loves the time when it's just the two of us, and I won't lie...I love our time together, too.  BUT, there's something about the giggles mixed with the indignant screams this weekend that will really make me miss having both boys this week.

Today, we went in search of the movie, "Little Giants" with Rick Moranis.  My boys have never seen it, and since N is on the Giants this season (even though it's baseball, not football), I thought they would love it.  Man, I loved that movie when I was a kid.  Between that and "The Sandlot," I was loving my middle school movie years.  I adore all of the sports movies from my childhood; The Mighty Ducks trilogy might be one of the most awesome trilogies ever.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find it locally, but I DID find it on Amazon, so I can't wait for it to get here on Tuesday.  N and I will have movie night, and he'll pretend to hate it, but he'll be laughing so hard by the end of it.

It feels good to get back to the roots of my happy place.  On Friday, I was sitting in class, thinking about what would make me happy, when I saw this picture:

Y'all.  This is, by far, my favorite place of all time.  How can you not feel relaxed and happy when you see this picture?  And the best part?  It's right here, in my great state!  Texas Independence Day was yesterday (March 2), and let me just say...I'm so proud to be a Texan.  You often hear that people who aren't born here, get here as fast as they can, and I'd say that's true.  I'd also take it a step further and say, those who are born here and move away, get back here as fast as they can.  And, I did.  I was gone for 8 years, and I'll probably never leave.

You know what they say: "Texas born, and Texas bred, and when I die, I'll be a Texan dead."

Truer words have never been spoken.
